Directory Membership — clone

Providers of health and human services and emergency resource services are encouraged to contact 211 Maine for inclusion in our Resource Directory. Participation in the directory will allow people in need to find your services and programs. There is no charge to be listed in the directory.

Eligibility and Requirements:

  • Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations providing essential health and human services to individuals in the service area.
  • Local, County, State, Tribal and Federal government agencies.
  • Faith based organizations offering health or human services to the community at large.
  • For profit entities including Public Utilities offering services related to basic needs, those which accept fees paid by government agencies, those accepting self-pay on a sliding scale or scholarship basis, an organization whose services are unique and not available through included nonprofit agencies, or an organization whose services are able to meet critical needs when alternative organizations may lack capacity to meet needs.
  • Local, State and Federal Representatives.
  • Education providers including colleges, universities, adult education, and alternative education programs serving special needs populations.
  • Out-of-state agencies which provide services or resources to the service area.
  • Must have a physical address and available phone contact unless the service is entirely web-based.
  • With the exception of support groups, included organizations must have oversight.
  • Must be able to provide evidence of licensure, accreditation or certification wherever those standards exist.
  • Must be well-established and operational at least six (6) months unless affiliated with a well-known, well-established agency.
  • Must not deny services or resources, in violation of State or Federal Laws, on the basis of nationality, culture, race, religion, gender, sex, sexual orientation, age, health, disability, handicap, marital status, veteran status, or socio/economic status.

Noneligible:

  • For profit organizations accepting only private insurance or full-cost, private pay services.
  • Individual mental health providers.
  • Individual medical practitioners.
  • Private attorneys or related legal service providers.
  • Faith based organizations not offering a public health or human service.
  • Private nursing or other long-term care facilities.
  • Individual childcare providers.
  • Political parties.
  • Organizations which offer services only to members.
  • Commercial businesses not described in the “eligibility and requirements” section.
  • Organizations which promote or deliver illegal services or violate laws or regulations.
  • Organizations which misrepresent their services, licensure or fees.

  • 211 Maine does not guarantee nor make any representation as to the accuracy or completeness of the information contained within the database.
  • 211 Maine is not responsible for the quality of services to which consumers are referred.
  • 211 Maine reserves the right to edit any information for style, format, guidelines and spacing.
  • Inclusion in the 211 Maine database does not imply recommendation or endorsement of any agency, its programs, or services.
  • Wherever possible, 211 Maine Call Specialists will provide multiple referral options per need.
  • When appropriate, 211 Maine will rely on information “clearinghouses” for resources which may not be appropriate for inclusion individually i.e. Assisted Living Facilities Search or Nursing Home Compare.

Removal (inactivation) from the 211 Maine database:

  • Any included organization which has not completed a review of their data within the prior 12 months.
  • Any included organization with which a 211 Maine Resource Coordinator has attempted to make contact four (4) or more times.
  • Any included organization which has failed to respond to written notice of inactivation.
  • Any included organization which no longer meets inclusion criteria.
  • Any included organization found to be engaged in fraudulent, discriminatory, or illegal actions or which have misrepresented services, licensure or fees or which lose licensure.

APPEAL PROCESS FOR INCLUSION DENIAL OR REMOVAL FROM 211 MAINE DATABASE

Any organization which has requested inclusion in the 211 Maine database will receive denial notification by email or by U.S. Mail.  An appeal should be made in writing to the Resource Manager at resources@211maine.org.  The appeal will be reviewed by the Resource Manager, Contact Center Manager and Program Manager with 30 days of receipt.  The appeal response will be provided in writing within 45 days of receipt.

Second appeals should be in writing to the Program Manager.  Contact information will be provided in the initial appeal response.  Final review and decision regarding inclusion will be made by the 211 Maine Board of Directors and provided in writing within 90 days of receipt.
