Keep ME Warm/ Project HEAT Telethon
It can get really cold here in Maine. At 211 Maine, we hear from people across the state who need help with heating payment assistance.
Tomorrow, January 16, NEWS CENTER Maine is hosting their annual Project HEAT Telethon to raise money for the Keep ME Warm fund. Keep ME Warm provides emergency heating assistance statewide.
Funds from the telethon and Keep ME Warm fund are distributed to organizations across Maine. 211 Maine receives a portion of this funding.
When someone contacts 211 Maine looking for heating assistance, our specialists look through the database to see what local resources are available to the person and if they have applied for assistance.
On a limited basis, 211 Maine is able to assist with financial assistance for heat.
If all other options are exhausted, the 211 Specialist will work with the person to identify their preferred heating source vendor and then work with the vendor to schedule a delivery.
If you are able to donate to help keep Mainers warm this winter, please visit www.keepmewarm.org or call the telethon tomorrow.
If you are in need of finding heating assistance resources, dial 211 (or 1-866-811-5695) or text your zip code to 898-211.
