211 Maine Celebrates 15 Years of Service

This July marks 15 years since 211 Maine fielded its first phone call. Since 2006, 211 Maine has received over 800,000 calls and helped with numerous initiatives.

“Over the last 15 years, 211 has played a critical role in the State of Maine,” said Liz Cotter Schlax, 211 Maine Board President and CEO of United Way of Southern Maine.

“From fielding calls for H1N1, helping hundreds of families stay warm through the Keep ME Warm fund, launching the Opiate Helpline, answering questions about browntail moth caterpillars, and most recently providing important information about the COVID-19 pandemic, our specialists have been there to help the people of Maine when needed most.”

“The United Ways of Maine are proud to celebrate this significant milestone for 211 Maine.”

From Fort Kent to Kittery and in every community in between, for 15 years and counting, Mainers have been able to access needed information when they are ready to reach out just by dialing three numbers.
