AUGUSTA, Maine—For 20 years, 211 Maine has been a trusted resource for people across the state, helping individuals and families to find the services they need, when they need them.
Every day, people in Maine reach out to 211 during moments of uncertainty: a parent worried about keeping the heat on, an older adult looking for food support, or someone seeking help for mental health or substance use concerns. These are not simple questions with simple answers. No matter what the need, when Maine calls, 211 answers.
In recognition of the program’s 20th anniversary, 211 Maine is launching the $20k for 20 Years campaign.
“This 20th anniversary is both a celebration and a call to action,” said Courtney Yeager, President of the 211 Maine Board of Directors and President/CEO of United Way of Kennebec Valley. “As we celebrate 20 years of impact, we’re inviting our community to be part of the next chapter. A simple $20 gift helps ensure that 211 Maine can continue answering the call, today, tomorrow, and for years to come.”
Sustaining a 24/7 helpline requires ongoing investment in skilled staff, updated technology, language access, and strong partnerships across the state. Every dollar raised helps ensure that when someone reaches out, whether at noon or midnight, there is a knowledgeable, caring person on the other end of the line, ready to help.
“This work isn’t abstract, it’s personal, and it reaches into every corner of Maine,” Yeager said. “A gift to 211 Maine is an investment in people, in community, and in connection.”
For 20 years, 211 Maine has answered the call. With the help of Maine people, the program will continue answering it, for the next 20 years and beyond.
